I then awoke to birdsong
Wafting on the breath of dawn
Joyful notes to break the dark
Quickening the shadows stark
Calling forth from still dark night
The promise of coming light.
I then awoke to birdsong
Wafting on the breath of dawn
Sharp and new above the gray
Sounds of change to herald day
Urging me from slumber rise
And with deeds greet rosy skies.
I then awoke to birdsong
Wafting on the breath of dawn
Songs of change so clear and bright
Hit my ears with such delight
New is dawning on the wing
Possibility they sing.
I then awoke to birdsong
Wafting on the breath of dawn
Those were lost and left alone
Light and song will soon be shown
Gentle as the coo of dove
The calling bird sings of love.
