When we celebrate Christmas
We celebrate the birth of a man
The immaculate birth of a man
A man who lived a perfect life
a life of healing and caring
A man who wept with compassion
at the death of one’s brother
A man who was angered
at the wrong that he saw
A man who would not compromise right for wrong
A man who was able to love
totally, honestly
A man whose love enabled him to stand still
while spikes were driven through his hands and feet
A man whose love enabled him to bear
the shame of public crucifixion, and even death
A man who was God
And who was raised from the dead into glory.
When we celebrate Christmas
We celebrate the birth of the living God and Savior
The birth of Jesus Christ
who lived the perfect life
who suffered mockery and the cross
who was raised from the dead into glory…
For us!
